About the Opportunity
Securing stable housing after a period of homelessness is one of the most critical — and financially demanding — transitions a person can face. First and last month’s rent, a damage deposit, basic furniture, and household essentials can add up to thousands of dollars that most people simply don’t have. The Stable Futures Housing Re-Entry Bursary removes that barrier. HomeBase provides a one-time, non-repayable bursary of up to $2,500 CAD to individuals who have secured a rental unit and are ready to move in but lack the financial means to do so. Funds are disbursed directly to the landlord or vendor where possible to ensure they reach their intended purpose quickly and securely. Eligible expenses: • First and last month’s rent deposit • Damage or security deposit • Moving truck or transportation costs • Essential furniture (bed, table, basic seating) • Household starter items (bedding, cookware, cleaning supplies) Who should apply: • Individuals currently residing in a shelter, transitional housing, or temporary accommodation • Individuals who have a confirmed rental offer or lease agreement in hand • Individuals with no current financial means to cover move-in costs
